Expand or Double Down?

What's the best way to grow?

I have a confession to make.

I’ve been distracted.

Not from WordRobin, but from my Niche.

Over the past couple of days, I’ve been building a copilot for Linkedin.

Here’s why:

Outside Signal

When I was doing my user research, the vast majority wanted a writing tool for Linkedin.

I tried to build it, but shyed away because their API was so restrictive.

It seemed like there was no way forwards.

But recently, I saw multiple apps prove that you don’t actually need to have posting API integration in order to offer an effective writing app service.

All you need is an easy integration.

I decided to spend these last 2 days to explore my options.

Expansion VS Distraction.

I am VERY prone to distractions.

I’ve trained myself over the past couple of years to be EXTREMELY careful around things that smell like distractions.

This was definitely one of them.

How do we distinguish between expansions and distractions?

I think it’s all about the new information.

AKA - what new information do I have now that I didn’t have when I originally decided to do what I’m doing now?

The tricky thing is of course, we are (hopefully) always learning, and there are more things you don’t know as you walk further along down a path.

What Next?

The goal is still WordRobin, and the dream is still to build the easiest, most intuitive way for people to tell their story through words.

This exercise is a step towards that direction - not away from it.

So to that end, I am not that concerned about the detour.

I do want to finish building this Linkedin integration, and sending it out to some friends to test (if you want to give it a go, reply here or shoot me a message on X!)

What am I doing?

Next week will be focused on actually releasing this new Linkedin app, and getting feedback from users.

Who knows! If the traction is better, maybe that will be the way to go 🙂

Have a great week all.

Ben

(apologies for the delay! I was distracted working on code)
