Apologies & What's Next?

I’ve been away for a couple of weeks.

I’m sorry, I don’t have an excuse - other than the fact that I’ve been doing some thinking.

Here are the things I realized.

I’ve been coasting.

For those of you that don’t know, I have a full time job.

I’ve built everything - this small audience, multiple ios apps, multiple web apps - in my “free time” (gom.vc)

But even with all that, I realize now that I was taking the comfortable path at work.

My job is easy. I was learning a few things here and there, but it doesn’t stretch me. It really hit me last week, when people who are getting paid more than me made decisions that didn’t make sense. I realized my standards are higher than anyone else in the company, and that is a terrible place to be.

So, I’ve been looking at options.

The Tradeoff.

Everything is a choice, and everything has an opportunity cost.

Just as I’ve traded my free time for my future.

I was trading growth at work for the stability to work on my own projects.

It’s okay to make a trade like this, but you have to be deliberate about where you’re going.

I need to kick things into action. To do that, I need to get crystal clear on what I want.

Here are the things I want:

1. A raise at work within the next month

2. A title change at work within the next month

3. More deliberate focus on growing GolfWink into a profitable SAAS - $1,000 MRR within the next 3 months.

I am energized. I have a purpose again, rather than just going through the motions.

And I cannot wait to share what I’ve learnt with you all.

What’s New?

This is where I’m at now - things are moving, but I still have so many changes to make, so many things I can improve.
